The interview would be wrote in a way that is easy to read and understood.
“As well as an environmental and educational resource Glenn explains how Drumnaph and similar local projects have helped with the regeneration of the Irish language on this area and its people. “I think it has been quite an important aspect of this community, not everyone is into the Irish language but projects such as An Carn and Drumnaph were initially started to help promote the Irish language, which in itself has brought funding into this area”. “One hundred year ago this community was an Irish speaking area. It is important to save and promote any indigenous language for many reasons including environmental. The world over, indigenous people and languages tend to be very much linked to the landscape and Irish is no exception to that, as the words for various different land forms and plants are linked to the language. Personally I have learnt various different English common names for plants then the botanical names and now as an Irish learner I am learning the Irish name which is giving me an extra dimension to that plant. The Irish names and the language is very much entrenched in the local environment which is very nice.” “I enjoy learning the Irish language, as it makes my life and my work fuller by having another aspect to it.”
As you can see from the sample above, I incorporated the individuals quote and words from our interview but stringed them it together with sentences that helped to create more of a story which made for a smoother and interesting read. The idea is not to just create a magazine that quotes people just to hear their opinion I need the magazine to be enjoyable and have some character to it which will encourage people to read it and get the benefits form reading a magazine of this style with this message.
This style of writing was used for 6 out of the 7 articles in this magazine, I interviewed two scout leaders within the one article, the only way I could present their quotes was through the Question, Answer style.
“How do you feel that being involved
in the scouts has benefited you in
every day life?
Karen: The experiences that I have had
certainly helped me in everyday life. It has defiantly made me more organised, you gather skills like patience and you need a lot of patience especially when your a leader. It also gives you an advantage because other young people don’t get the opportunity to learn the skills that you have learnt through the involvement in the scouts.
Paula: I have taken more into
consideration, looking at the children
smiling when they’re having a good time it makes me think, maybe this is worth while doing; so yes it does benefit me, when I see how happy they are because of the work we as leaders put in.”
